How to promote internet store

The world is not waiting on bated breath for your store to be created.  Once you create it, you won't see massive traffic rushing in.

The fact is, traffic is everything. Also, traffic is not guaranteed. It usually requires lots of effort to receive visitors, and the real work starts after you have gotten the site up and running. So, how is this done?



  • Exchange backlinks with yourself. For example: Your own websites blogs, stores lenses, and more. Make sure to exchange only the links that are related to each other.
  • If you have created your internet shop yourself and you think that it's fantastic, submit your shop to web design competitions.
  • Write an ebook that relates to what you sell and advertise your e-store link in your ebook. Distribute your electronic book for free or allow reseller rights.
  • If you have designed an unusual shop or anything that you think deserves more attention, submit them to such sites as Ma.gnolia, BuzzFeed, Plaxo, Tumblr etc.
  • Build some useful program that advertises your internet store and distribute for free on your web site.
  • Build nice and good application to let others know about your website. Spread out it for free. Example: screensavers, wallpapers, etc.
  • Create an online bulletin board
  • Offer freebies with purchases. Make sure your freebies have your internet shop URL on them.
  • Offer special discount coupons for their next purchase.
  • Get your relatives  to include your website URL in their blogs. Get them to share details about your products for free. 
  • Participate in discussions on Yahoo Answers, Answers.com, AllExperts, Wiki Answers, MyLot, and more.
  • Actively participate in groups. For instance, MySpace, Yahoo Groups, Microsoft Groups, Google Groups, Facebook, Kaboodle, and many more.
  • Include Twitter application in your Facebook,blogs, websites, shops.
  • Add a poll to your internet store
  • Create a page and archive all your old polls in your site, shop and blog.
  • Sign up for affiliate programs and get others to trade your products for you. For instance: ShareASale, Commission Junction, LinkShare and more.
  • Send emails to your affiliates about your latest promotions so that your affiliates know what to do with them.
  • Create small websites for your mega store.
  • If you are willing to pay for advertisement, sign up for Adwords, Kontera etc.
  • Get other bloggers to write posts about the products that you sell. For instance: PayPerPost.com
  • Hold an online contest on your stores, websites or blogs. Give away your products with your links as gifts.
  • Give high quality and useful comments in other people blog posts. Don't spam.
  • Create and send out press releases.
  • Exchange URLs with your competitors.
  • Give friendly and useful reviews on such sites as StumbleUpon, tagfoot and more. Don't spam.
  • Bookmark all your stores at del.icio.us, tagfoot and more.
  • Join and take part in in Kaboodle.com. Add in as much products in  as possible.
  • Upload your products pictures to such image sharing sites as Flickr, BubbleShare, Fotolog and others.
  • Tag your photos at Flickr.
  • Send your product information feed to Google Base.
  • Build a subscribers list and send a newsletter often. 
  • Let your subscribers know how often you will send them your newsletters before they subscribe.
  • Create and send your podcast to iTunes, Odeo, Podcast Alley, PodOmatic, Podscope etc.
  • Write useful, honest, comments on other niche blogs related to your products or stores. Do not spam.
  • Submit your e-store blogs to blog directories. 
  • Create your own videos about the products that you sell. 
  • Submit your videos to Metacafe, YouTube, MySpace, Digg Videos, blip.tv, AOL Video, Google Video, GoFish, Vimeo, Yahoo Video and more.
  • Sign up and take part in niche forums related to the products that you sell.
  • Put your website links in your email signature
  • Last, but not least, make sure to submit your shop to search engines
